Week of June 8 - 12
Hello Pinelakers,
On Wednesday, Team Underdog (Ms. Kiemle, Ms. Sanik, Mr. Abraham, Ms. Klein and I) will do our best to represent the Pine Lake faculty against an unspecified student challenger team. Stay tuned for the results!
I enjoyed reading your responses to "The Lady or the Tiger" and "The Smallest Dragonboy Part II". Looks like many of you believe in true love, even for a semi-barbaric princess. While many of you hoped for a gold or bronze dragon, there were some wonderful answers showing self-knowledge and creative thinking around other colors: green dragons are FAST, a smaller rider fits better with a smaller dragon, and who wants the pressure of riding a gold?
This week we will be continuing our work on theme with the following ENLs.
Monday, 6/8 - Correlative Conj, FANBOYS errors and Katniss Conjunctions Quiz in NoRedInk.
Tuesday, 6/9 - Theme Quiz in Forms (access in Teams)
Wednesday, 6/10 - Newsela - Read an article and take the corresponding test. .
Thursday, 6/11 - Practice Unit 14 in Quizlet
Friday, 6/12 - Unit 14 test in Skyward. Only available Friday, 6/12, from 6a - 6p.
Email with any questions [email protected]
Sincerely,
Miss Shaler

No work this week, just a poem for this time. See you next week.
And the people stayed home
by Kitty O'Meara
O'Meara's poem suggests that we view this era of physical distancing as a chance to undertake purposeful activities like meditation, exercise, and dancing that result in a kind of global healing.
And the people stayed home
and read books and listened
and rested and exercised
and made art and played games
and learned new ways of being
and were still
and listened more deeply.
Some meditated, some prayed, some danced. Some met their shadows.
And the people began to think differently
and the people healed.
And, in the absence of people living in ignorant, dangerous, mindless, and heartless ways,
the earth began to heal.
And when the danger passed
and the people joined together again
they grieved their losse
and made new choices
and dreamed new images
and created new ways to live and heal the earth fully
as they had been healed.
